Marks, Shell & Maness was founded in 1923 by Robert McReynolds and Dempsey Marks. During the Great Depression, the firm’s office served as the recruiting office for the Works Progress Administration (WPA). After the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, the founders closed the firm and volunteered for service. Robert McReynolds served stateside, while Dempsey Marks fought in the Battle of the Bulge. The firm reopened in 1945, and for over 100 years it has represented local businesses and nonprofits throughout Clarksville and the surrounding community.
