A Rotating Bench and a Monthly Docket

Cheatham County is part of the 23rd Judicial District, which also includes Dickson, Houston, Humphreys and Stewart Counties. According to the Circuit Court Clerk, the district’s circuit judges rotate through Cheatham County so that a sitting judge is in the county each month, and the civil docket is typically set for the first Monday of the month, with court beginning at 9:00 a.m. Schedules are subject to change, and the court publishes local rules of practice. For anyone with a pending case, the rotation means the timing of motions and hearings depends on the judge’s schedule in the county, so we check the calendar before setting deadlines.

How We Help Clients Here

Estates and probate. Chancery Court in Ashland City handles probate for Cheatham County residents. If a family member has died, our page on probate and estate administration explains how it generally works in Tennessee. Planning ahead is covered in wills and trusts, and contested matters in estate litigation.

Lawsuits. Because lawsuits over $25,000 are filed in Circuit Court and smaller matters may belong in General Sessions, the amount and type of claim shape where a case is filed. See civil lawsuits, business litigation, and construction disputes.

Families and small businesses. We also assist with divorce and family law, forming an LLC, and contract review.

Other Counties We Serve

Our attorneys also handle matters in Montgomery County (Clarksville), Stewart County (Dover), Houston County (Erin), Robertson County (Springfield), and Cheatham County (Ashland City).
